Living in Spain

We live on the Costa Brava, 6 kilometres from the small village of Santa Cristina d' Aro, in one of the urbanisations, the areas where for more than thirty years people from other European countries, bought their building ground and properties.

So we did, coming all the way from Holland.

After spending four years in another part of Spain -further south- I decided to take a look at Catalunya; following the road along the coast - the area between Palamos and Playa d'Aro, gave us the right feeling. After living in Calonge for seven years , we moved into the hills of the Gavarras, not far from Romanyá de la Selva.

The Costa Brava from Roses to Blanes, shows a great diversity in its coastline, from tiny bay's, rocks and little islands, to beaches with white sand, sometimes for many kilometers.

Fiqueres, Cadaques and Pubol are places well known because of the great Dalí. In the ruïns of the Empuriés and in the old villages of Pals, Peratallada and many others, you can discover the roots of the people who live in the Alt and Baix Emporda. Barcelona is not too far away, here you can see the famous architecture of Gaudí, and also a Picasso museum with art from his early period.
